Why your pixel cannot see WhatsApp conversions

The Meta pixel measures in the browser. The sale happens in the chat. What the Conversions API changes, and how setup works.

If you run ads into WhatsApp and close in the chat, you have a measurement problem. Not a small one: Meta optimises delivery towards whatever is reported back. If nothing comes back, it optimises for clicks.

What the pixel sees and what it does not

The Meta pixel is JavaScript in a browser. It sees journeys that end on a web page. It does not see:

  • Events an ad blocker suppresses.
  • Attribution lost to cookie deletion in Safari and iOS.
  • Anything that happens inside WhatsApp — which is the qualification, the appointment and the sale.

In Events Manager, the very users who ended up buying look like bounces.

What the Conversions API changes

The Conversions API is Meta's server-side channel. Events are sent directly instead of waiting for a browser to report them. It works without cookies and cannot be cut off by an ad blocker.

If the pixel and the API report the same event, Meta matches them by event ID and counts once. Double counting is not an argument against it.

What alkaio sends

alkaio reports the events from the WhatsApp funnel server-side. It records which ad, ad set and campaign brought the contact in, then reports the stages that actually mean something:

  • new lead
  • qualified conversation
  • booked appointment
  • sale

That lets the algorithm optimise for revenue rather than clicks.

Setup

Enable the Conversions API in Events Manager — it costs nothing. Add the pixel ID and API token in alkaio. No SDK, no tag manager work, no developer time.

What it does not do

Better measurement does not fix a bad campaign. It makes a bad campaign visible — faster. That is uncomfortable and exactly the point: you stop funding something that only looked like it was working.
